Automation in IT primarily enables everyday IT processes to require little or no human intervention. The software can be set up accordingly, and certain functions can be handled automatically. Nowadays, IT must react as quickly as possible to changing tasks and techniques so that a smooth process in the company can be guaranteed.
To some extent, automation can be applied to any component of IT. This is also referred to as the IT infrastructure. This includes, for example, servers, network connections, applications, or operating systems. In the case of rapidly growing companies, in particular, enormous administrative expenses arise in IT in a short time, which often also poses challenges for personnel management.
Applications based on scripts are often used in companies in which there are recurring processes. For this purpose, scripts are created for each task, containing the corresponding instructions and steps to fulfill the respective function.
One speaks of standardized automation, which offers sufficient support with constant processes. However, suppose more complex and individual requirements are added. In that case, this variant of automation quickly reaches its limits because the smooth flow of scripts is disrupted and may have to be revised entirely.
For companies for which standardized automation is insufficient, various tools with modular components are used. To create automated processes, it is necessary to have the knowledge needed to be stored virtually by the IT management experts.
If this has been done conscientiously, the tool can work ultimately and document all processes transparently. Since the process does not necessarily have to run linearly here and the stored knowledge can be used, it is possible to react flexibly to unforeseen events with this type of application.
It can certainly happen that there are “knowledge gaps,” for example, when new individual requirements are added. In this case, the application works through the processes as far as possible and then sends a message to the specialist staff to query the knowledge required for the missing steps.
A suitable CMDB tool for companies can reduce the workload for employees many times over and relieve them so that they can focus on other demanding activities. Of course, such devices also help avoid errors by automating stored processes.

In this way, all relevant data and processes from different locations and different company sources can be combined and processed within one software.
The future lies in automation! Effectiveness and speed are becoming more and more important in companies.
