5G Cell Phone Test: Huge Selection For Every Budget

Are you looking for a 5G-capable smartphone? Our 5G cell phone review shows you some of the best options. Here you will find a suitable 5G mobile phone for every budget and taste.

In 2019, the Federal Republic auctioned the licenses for the frequencies in 5G mobile communications to the network providers. A lot has happened since then, and the new network standard is already available in Germany. The significantly increased speed is particularly interesting for smartphone users. To enjoy 5G, you need a suitable 5G tariff and a 5G-capable smartphone of your choice.

iPhone 13: Apple’s Newest 5G Phone

The iPhone 13 series from Apple is very fresh on the market. The tech giant will again be offering us a standard model in 2021. It goes by the name of iPhone 13 and impresses with a great display, stylish design, and enormous amount of power. Apple itself advertises with the slogan “Nobody can do 5G like the iPhone”.

This may be true in terms of global network coverage. The iPhone 13 models have many 5G bands on board. However, it doesn’t work that well: In this country, some 5G networks are set up so that they rely on a so-called LTE anchor network. This means that if a smartphone user wants to connect to the 5G network, they must receive the appropriate LTE frequency simultaneously. Overall, Apple is not necessarily worse positioned than other manufacturers, but neither is it better.

Nevertheless, a 5G network can also be enjoyed in more and more places in Germany with the iPhone 13 So if you are looking for an Apple smartphone, rely on the latest technology and at the same time want to benefit from the high speed of 5G mobile communications, you should opt for a model from the iPhone 13 series. Of course, the Pro models also support 5G.

If you are looking for a 5G smartphone as compact as possible, the iPhone 13 mini might be worth a look. It offers the same features and technical achievements as the normal iPhone 13 – only in a small size. The dimensions are 131.5 x 64.2 x 7.7 mm. With only 140g, it is also extremely light.

Galaxy Z Flip 3 5G: Foldable Smartphone With 5G Reception

Among other things, Samsung has also increased its focus on its foldable smartphones: the South Koreans brought us two new models in 2021. With the Galaxy Z Flip 3 5G and the Galaxy Z Fold 3 5G , you have a smartphone that can be folded horizontally and one that can be bent vertically in the current portfolio.

The Galaxy Z Flip 3 5G is particularly popular. This is probably due to the lower price and the very chic design, among other things. Thanks to the folding mechanism, you can easily hide the foldable in your pocket. Also practical: the hinge is so stable that the Galaxy Z Flip 3 5G can also be placed on the table while sitting. This makes video calls, and selfie shoots particularly pleasant.

Even if the Galaxy Z Flip 3 5G only comes with a dual camera, the two foldable Samsung smartphones only use technology that you are used to from high-end devices. For example, both models come with the Snapdragon 888 from Qualcomm, which provides enormous computing power. Games and video editing are easy to do with both devices. And don’t forget: 5G is, of course, also on board.

Galaxy A52s 5G: Cheap Alternative From Samsung

Up to this point, we have only presented you with 5G cell phones from the upper price segment. With the Galaxy A52s 5G , we are now looking at a smartphone that enables fast 5G reception even for smaller budgets. For less than 400 euros, you can get a device here with some features that you otherwise only know from the high-end sector.

This includes an OLED display with an increased refresh rate of 120 Hz, a camera lavishly equipped with four lenses, a long-lasting battery, and the option to use the 5G network. In addition, there is a Snapdragon 778G, which has enough power for most users, quick charging, and even a jack socket. So it’s a great package. Are you still not entirely convinced?

Xiaomi 11T Pro: Price Bomb From China

Phew, that’s quite a lot that Xiaomi gives its customers for 649 euros. So we take the conclusion straight away: Everything that separates the Xiaomi 11T Pro from the absolute top smartphone is an even better camera and wireless charging. In our Xiaomi 11T Protest, we were particularly impressed by the insane charging power of up to 120 watts and the long battery life.

With some devices from Xiaomi, one might wonder how the manufacturer can even earn money with such a pricing policy. In addition to the Xiaomi 11T Pro, this also includes the normal Xiaomi 11T, which differs from the Pro model in only a few points. For whom the model is particularly worthwhile, we clarify in our comparison Xiaomi 11T Pro vs. Xiaomi 11T.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 5G: Price-Performance At Its Best

The Chinese manufacturer has hidden another model in its large product range that scores particularly well with its price-performance ratio. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 5G has been on the market for a while but can still convince with solid features for just over 200 euros. Incidentally, this also makes it the cheapest model in our 5G mobile phone test.

A 6.5-inch IPS display with a 90 Hz refresh rate is also part of the datasheet, as is the 5000 mAh battery, 5G reception, and a three-lens camera. In this case, you have to make compromises in terms of performance: The Redmi Note 10 5G relies on the Dimensity 700 from MediaTek. Although this is sufficient for most users, it is far from the top performance of high-end models. We think: For the price, it is not difficult to do without an OLED display and a fast processor.

Suppose you absolutely cannot do without it. In that case, you should take a look at the sister model: The Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro addresses exactly the weak points mentioned and brings an OLED display, a better camera, and more performance.

Google Pixel 6 (Pro): News From Mountain View

The majority should already know: Android comes from Google. And what have we learned from other companies such as Apple? If the hardware and software come from the same company, the chances are good that the customers will be spoiled with a lot of quality. In the past, this was not a law for Pixel smartphones, but it should certainly be the case with the new flagship Google Pixel 6 and Google Pixel 6 Pro.

Those who opt for the Pixel also get a few cool additional features not available elsewhere: The camera is a top priority for both models. The quality can play along, but Google also wants to go one better when it comes to image processing: For example, objects that you don’t want can be removed from a photo with just one click or swipe – impressive. The Pixel 6 is available for 649 euros. The Pro costs 899 euros.

Oppo Find X3 Lite: Chic Design Meets 5G

Oppo also finds its place in our 5G mobile phone test: The Oppo Find X3 Lite 5G is particularly impressive, as is usual for many Chinese models, with its very good price-performance ratio. For less than 350 euros, you can get an OLED display with 90 Hz, a four-lens camera with a macro lens, 8 GB of RAM, and a fast-charging power of up to 65 watts. Thanks to the Snapdragon 765G, you have enough power and 5G on board.

In addition to the Find X3 Lite, the Find X3 range includes the Oppo Find X3 Neo 5G and the Oppo Find X3 Pro 5G. Here you have to dig deeper into your pocket when purchasing, but you also get additional features.

Conclusion: Large Selection Of 5G Smartphones

What a huge selection has appeared on the market in such a short time is almost frightening: 5G chips are no longer just a feature reserved for the upper class. Inexpensive models such as the Redmi Note 10 5G can also benefit from the fast network standard. The question is no longer whether your wallet is sufficient for 5G reception, but only what additional features you can expect from your future smartphone.

Only Apple has not yet installed 5G radio in its cheaper models. Samsung, Xiaomi, and Co. won’t let you down: From 200 to 2000 euros: 5G is standard in many models. Or, in other words: 5G is mainstream. Now we can only hope that the network expansion will move forward quickly
